The tale of "The Doting Mongoose" has elements no doubt familiar to readers. This is a tale from the PaƱcatantra collection of fables in India--made famous to English-speaking audiences by Rudyard Kipling in his short story, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. The tale of the heroic mongoose, who rescues the son of a household from a cobra, is retold in a second-grade Tibetan schoolbook published in Dharamsala below.
